ABOUT
Pen&Lope Research Consulting is a boutique research support studio specializing in social scientific healthcare research design, qualitative methods, survey design, academic publishing, and grant writing. We partner with researchers, clinicians, students, and patient advocacy organizations to support research that matters, no matter the stage or researcher experience.
Inspired by founder Dr. Anna Kerr’s daughter, the company blends warmth, expertise, and intellectual rigor. Dr. Kerr is a health communication scientist trained in advanced qualitative methods and survey design. She holds a PhD in Communication from the University of Kentucky. She spent 9 years in medical education, conducting mixed-methods research in areas including communication skills training, healthcare access, narrative medicine and storytelling, medical uncertainty, health literacy, shared decision making, rare disease care coordination, stigma, and social support.
Dr. Kerr has longstanding partnerships with clinicians at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She has also partnered with patient advocacy groups. Her work has been funded by the NIH (AHRQ, NCI), Department of Defense, Lymphatic Malformation Institute, National Communication Association, and American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.
